Amy Poehler: ‘Sleep Is Just A Concept’

original (1)

Funnylady Amy Poehler covers ELLE magazine’s fourth annual Women in TV Issue alongside Zooey Deschanel, Mindy Kaling and Allison Williams. In the interview, Amy opens up about the rigors of motherhood to young sons Archie, 5, and Abel, 3, and her shift into directing-writing-producing.

On waking up early with her boys: “Now that I have kids, I’m up at 5:30AM no matter what. Sleep at this point is just a concept, something I’m looking forward to investigating in the future.

On the conflict of being a comedienne and a grown-up: “I’d like to say that I maintain that same sense of play and creativity and spontaneity – of being able to get into a room with people and say, ‘Let’s waste some time.’ When you’re a creative person, even when you’re in a position of power, you still have to be able to straddle both worlds.”

On why she’s heading into directing, production and writing: “I like to do things that challenge me and make me nervous. You learn early as an actor that creating your own material is the only way to have any control. Hollywood is like a bad boyfriend. You can’t stand around and wait to be asked to dance.”

Check out the cute pics of Amy and her boys getting groceries at Bristol Farms in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Sunday (January 5).

Amy Poehler: Steppin’ Out With Her Sons

Amy Poehler and the boys hit the Farmers Market

Amy Poehler and her boys Abel, 3, and Archie, 4, went to the farmers market in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Sunday (October 27). They grabbed snacks and drinks while picking up fresh produce. At one point the actress carried a teary Archie.

In her interview with Breezy Mama – she said the kids aren’t too impressed with hearing her voice in Freebirds.

She said, “They’re not that impressed. They hear my voice every day, so they’ll be very impressed with Woody’s voice because they’re in love with–I mean, excuse me, with Owen’s–and Woody’s voice, but they’re in love with Owen’s voice because of Cars.”
.

Asked about a mom fail – she replied, “Oh, Gosh. Sometimes, I forget where I’m driving them to. That happens, right? How did we get in this car? Yes, how are we in this car, and who am I dropping off and where are we going – that happens a lot.

“I’m trying to think of other stuff. It’s just a lot of forgetful stuff that every mother has to deal with. I think I’ve sent my older guy to school with like an empty lunch box.”

Will Arnett: Breakfast With His Superheroes

*EXCLUSIVE* Will Arnett spends some time with his Superheroes

Will Arnett and his boys Archie, 4, and Abel, 3, were seen out in Brentwood, Calif. on Saturday morning (October 12). The actor treated his masked kids to breakfast at the Brentwood Country Mart.

The Millers star recently told E! News that he doesn’t dress up for Halloween. He stated, “I don’t generally do Halloween. My kids do, yeah. But I don’t, as an adult. I’m not opposed to it, but it’s better for kids.”

He added, “My character has a line on the show that says, ‘There’s nothing more desperate than adults wearing costumes on Halloween’. I always look at it like this too, because of what I do, I wear costumes at work all the time for my job. So maybe if I didn’t do it as my job, I might be more into it.”

As for his and ex-Amy Poehler’s two sons – he revealed,  “I will say my kids have a lot of great costumes. All the superheroes. Batman’s the favorite.”

Amy Poehler & Archie: Sunny Day Duo

AG012350_01

Amy Poehler and Archie, 4, were spotted leaving his music class in Santa Monica, Calif. on Thursday (September 5). Abel, 3, wasn’t with them. Wearing sunglasses and an eye-catching red dress the comedic actress gave a little wave to photographers.

Over the weekend USA Today asked the Parks and Recreation star if she and Tina Fey will be hosting the Globes again.

She replied, “I don’t know. Who knows?”

Now settled in Los Angeles – Poehler says she still loves New York City. In her interview with Time Out New York she said, “I think it’s the best city to live in with kids. My kids learn more on the walk from our house to the deli than they do driving around all day. They see so many different people, they ask so many questions, they interact with so many different types of people. They’re so stimulated and energized.”

Will Arnett: Breakfast With The Boys

*EXCLUSIVE* Will Arnett spends some time with his boys

Will Arnett took his sons Archie, 4, and Abel, 3, to grab breakfast at the Brentwood Country Mart in Brentwood, Calif. on Sunday (August 25). The Arrested Development actor also brought along the nanny.

The boys looked really happy – especially little Abel who brought along his toy car.

With ex-wife Amy Poehler dating Nick Kroll – Will has someone special now too. He’s reportedly dating celebrity chef Katie Lee. The pair were seen on August 8 enjoying a meal at The Crow’s Nest restaurant in Montauk, NY.

A source said,  “They came in around 8 and his arm was around her waist. They kissed each other a lot throughout the night. They held hands too and were really into each other, like the way you are with someone you just started seeing.”

It was only in June that Will said he was not “officially dating.”

He shared, “Yeah, I don’t know what you do. Do you put out an announcement in the trades? I’M DATING! It all seems very scary to me, to be honest. So I’m kind of keeping pretty close counsel right now.”

Amy Poehler’s Grocery Guy

An expectant Amy Poehler was seen picking up some groceries with son Archie, 1 1/2, and a nanny in New York City on Friday (July 23).

After learning about her recent Emmy nomination for her lead role on Parks & Recreation, the 38-year-old comedienne - of course - cracked a joke, "I should really find out if any money comes with this nomination," she joked. On a more serious note she added, "It's been a great year for women in comedy. To be included among them is just excellent."

Amy and her Arrested Development star hubby, Will Arnett, are expecting their second child in late Summer or early Fall.
