Kerry Washington To Host Saturday Night Live

And who says there aren’t enough funny black women in TV—shame on you Kenan Thompson.

According to The Hollywood Reporter

Kerry Washington is set to make her debut on Saturday Night Live.

The Emmy-nominated star of ABC’s Scandal is set to host the NBC show on Nov. 2. Eminem, whose new album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, will be released Nov. 5, will serve as the night’s musical guest; it marks his sixth appearance on the show.

The news of Washington’s hosting gig comes on the heels of a TV Guide interview with SNL star Kenan Thompson, who lamented the lack of black female cast members.

“It’s just a tough part of the business,” Thompson said. “Like in auditions, they just never find ones that are ready.”

Meanwhile, Oscar-nominated actor Edward Norton is set to make his own debut as SNL host the week before Washington. Norton next appears in the films The Grand Budapest Hotel and Birdman.

Janelle Monae will serve as musical guest that night, marking her first appearance on the show.

Will you be tuning in?

Making Our Ears Bleed: 8 Rappers Who Should Hang Up Their Mics

trinidad_james10

Good music is hard to come by these days, especially in a culture where people prefer great beats over lyricism. Never is this so true than in Hip Hop.

Here’s 8 rappers we think should throw in the towel.

2pac Lives @ Coachella 2012

Click here to view the embedded video.

Coachella, the giant three-day music festival that takes place every April in Southern California’s Indio desert,  kicked off 2012′s summer music festival on Friday, April 13.  It looks like after tonight the most talked about performer will be the late rapper 2pac via hologram!  Dr. Dre took the stage with guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kurupt, Wiz Khalifa, Eminem and, amazingly, 2Pac.

As you can imagine, just like when he was alive, 2pac sent the crowd into a frenzy and Twitter buzzed with excitement.  After tonight surprise I wonder what’s in store for future concerts, a Nirvana reunion perhaps?

Eminem Still Thinks Lady Gaga Has a Penis

Remember about a year ago when it was so totally hilarious to talk about Lady Gaga’s cock? All because there was “something” under her dress at one concert? And people didn’t want to believe she maybe wore a strap-on and “accidentally” revealed the thing to mock celebs who “accidentally” expose their vulvas when they emerge from cars? Well! Eminem is still thinking about those halcyon days. In his new Bad Meets Evil track, “A Kiss,” Marshall Mathers seems to have a crush on Katy Perry. But he also raps:

“Tell Lady Gaga she can quit her job at the post office / She’s still a male lady.”

So congrats Lady Gaga, you now join the ranks of Fred Durst, Chris Kirkpatrick of ‘N Sync and Carson Daly, all of whom have been dissed by Eminem. Although with a number one album and a legion of Little Monsters, Gaga probably cares about Em’s lyrics about as much as she cares for pants.

Grammy Awards 2011, List of Winners + Lady Gaga is Eggy

Once a year, gramophone become valuable to more than just antique shops and museums. That’s because, at the Grammy Awards, they’re made of gold. And mean you’ve been selected as the best singer/song writer/band etc. The 53rd annual Grammy Awards took place Sunday night and plenty of gramophones were handed out.

What stood out the most though, was Lady Gaga arrival inside of a translucent cocoon, carried on a litter by a troupe of shirtless gogo dancers. In reality there was absolutely nothing remarkable about this. In fact, bystanders were surprised that the usually flamboyant Lady Gaga chose to wear such a run-of-the-mill outfit on the red carpet. “It’s like she just picked up the first translucent cocoon she saw lying on the bedroom floor and threw it on,” said one disappointed bystander. “I basically wore the same thing to my dentist appointment yesterday.”

No but really, it was Ova the top.

The 2011 People’s Choice Awards Results & Pictures

We got the first taste of award season last night as celebs and fame whores (seen above) took to the blue carpet for the 2011 People’s Choice Awards in L.A. You could have sat through all two hours of the inane banter from host Queen Latifah that went along with it. But if you didn’t (and for your own sakes, let’s hope that’s the case) I manned up, soldiered through and took notes of the results as chosen by the “people”, “people” clearly being in this case 14 year old girls.

Rihanna’s concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Wednesday night took fans on a surprising detour and gifted them with two classy acts by Eminem and Ke$ha. While Em joined RiRi for a live rendition of the pair’s hit single Love the Way You Lie, Ke$ha took fans on a fantasy ride with her energetic opening act and treated them to a stunning cartwheel performance.

MTV reports,

The whole night was amazing! Rihanna: Amazing!,” Rafael Saghian raved. “The fantastic part was Eminem. We loved it. We come all the way from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil!” Describing Em’s appearance as “da bomb,” fans loved seeing the two sharing the stage. “When Eminem came out that was friggin’ amazing,” Sean Preston said. But, fans also gave it up to Rihanna’s sparkly opening act, Ke$ha. “She was crazy. She was wild,” Nina and her pal, Aliza, explained. “In the middle of dancing she just did a huge cartwheel! 50 Says That Jay-Z Thinks He Is A Politician And The Best Rapper Is A White Man

In the Esquire interview, Bugs Bunny said some interesting things about Jay and the best rapper alive:

Jay-Z is as politically correct as some of the politicians. He’s safe. There’s points when you’re acquiring….. financing, you make adjustments. He’s made those adjustments. It’s his choice. For me, it’s not a necessity.

When you’re safe, people start walking on the stage because they feel safe with you. People don’t walk on the stage at my shows. Air Jordan. Tiger Woods. You know how a person is made for something? Eminem is made for hip-hop. The best rapper is a white man.
