Elton John & His Lover David Furnish Are Now Fathers

Sir Elton John and David Furnish seen here back in 1987 at Elton’s 40th birthday party are now parents. A child born unto them of wigs and glitter. So expect a lot of this in the near future: Tiny Dancer Onesies, Cradles In The Wind, The Bitch Is Back Burpers, and their special kid musical, Bennie and The Pets.

According to Us Magazine:

Sir Elton John and David Furnish have become parents to son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, the couple tells exclusively.

The baby boy, who was born Dec. 25 in California via a surrogate, weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces.

“We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment,” John and Furnish tell Us in a joint statement. “Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents.”

This is the first child for John, 62, and Furnish, 48. The couple married in 2005 after 12 years together.

A rep for the couple has stated that they intend to protect and respect the privacy of their surrogate, and will not be discussing any details relating to the surrogacy arrangements.

I’m just glad Elton gave his kid such a lovely and normal name. I’m sick of celebs saddling their children with names like Whizz Bang Sparklepants or something equally silly.

Note to self: get rich before you are 40 so you can have an outfit that badass at your birthday party.

Gay Karl Lagerfeld speaks out against same sex marriage and gay parents

Karl Lagerfeld is one of the biggest names in the flamboyant fashion design industry, but the German mogul wasn’t afraid to open up about his views against same-sex marriage and gay parents raising a family.

“I’m against it (gay marriage) for a very simple reason: In the 60’s, they all said we had the right to the difference. And now, suddenly, they want a bourgeois life,” Lagerfeld recently told contemporary youth culture magazine, Vice. “For me it’s difficult to imagine—one of the papas at work and the other at home with the baby. How would that be for the baby? I don’t know. I see more lesbians married with babies than I see boys married with babies. And I also believe more in the relationship between mother and child than in that between father and child.”

And not surprisingly, Lagerfeld’s words have hit others where it hurts.

“Absolutely (it is offensive). But that’s Karl,” says prominent Los Angeles stylist Phillip Bloch, whose client roster includes everyone from Halle Berry to Drew Barrymore to Mariah Carey.  “Karl is about pushing a button and that’s his point of view. That’s why he’s an expressionist and he is a reference. It’s a matter of equality, we should pay the same taxes, we should be able to get married, we should all be able to vote, be up for the same jobs, we should all be allowed to be happy and we should all be allowed to be miserable.

“[Karl] is definitely a supremacist and of course he said, “Of course I think much more about the relationship with the mother and the child as opposed to the father and the child.” Well, for someone who’s so creative, how could you be so single-minded? It’s very single-minded but it’s Karl’s way of thinking. I don’t think it’s wrong, I think it’s funny and it’s cute to me that Karl thinks that way.”

Carrie Prejean sues Miss California pageant officials

Carrie Prejean has delivered what she had promised. The former Miss California USA filed a lawsuit against pageant officials Monday for libel, slander and religious discrimination, accusing them of telling her to stop mentioning God even before her controversial remarks against gay marriage.

According to THP,

Prejean sued California pageant executive director Keith Lewis and actress and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, who served as a co-director before resigning in protest of Prejean.

Prejean was fired in June by pageant officials who said she missed several scheduled appearances.

Her attorney, Chuck LiMandri, said that wasn’t true, and Prejean was ousted because of controversial remarks in April during the Miss USA pageant that marriage should be between a man and a woman.
