From our friends at Mamiverse!

National Teachers Day is upon us and the pressure is killing us! Okay, not really, but we do tend to get a bit anxious when an occasion requires us to give our kids’ teachers gifts. I mean, what if the other parents spend more money and we look cheap? What if the aspiring Martha Stewart mami shows us up with a beautiful craft or mega-thoughtful basket (again)?

Sometimes the pressure of getting the perfect gift for this May 6 holiday keeps us up at night. Since the Japanese proverb reads, “Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher,” we’ve taken the guesswork out of gift-giving for teachers with a list of 15 presents your kids’ teachers will love. No more stress over what to buy? Count us in!

Baby Mushroom Creates A Safe And Comfortable Place For Baby

Whether your little one has just started to reach and grab, or is already sitting on their own, it’s great to have a spot reserved just for them.   For that reason, many parents opt for foam tiles to make plopping and rolling easier.   But what most parents don’t know are many of these options that are only safety-rated for children over the age of 3. Unlike these products, the Snug Square Play Mat by Baby Mushroom can be used from birth, won’t come apart, and is the most comfortable (thanks to the padding) baby play mat on the market today.  Even new mom Jessie James Decker of E!’s hit show Eric & Jessie: Game On is a fan!

The perfect solution to help keep baby comfortable – during playtime, tummy time or anytime – the Snug Square is extra large (which means mom and dad can fit too!), great on any surface, is light and portable (we love that it rolls up for easy storage), is plush and luxuriously soft, and not an eye soar (comes in three stylish colors to match any décor).
Parents will love the fact that its also machine washable – so not to worry about spit up, diaper accidents, or spilled milk.

The Snug Square Play Mat ($99.95) is recommended from birth on, sold online and in retailers across the country.

Report: Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Marrying Privately This Weekend

Kanye West joins his Girls for some Furniture Shopping

From our friends at Your Tango!

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have reportedly nabbed their marriage license and will wed this week in Los Angeles, according to multiple reports. Kimye will officially swap vows in America at a justice of the peace as a matter of formality ahead of their planned lavish nuptials in Paris.

Wait, what? A justice of the peace? No bridezilla moments for Kim? Her business is sharing ALL details of her life, so what’s the deal with such modest marriage plans? As it turns out, the L.A. wedding is merely a legal issue and the pair will hop on a private jet — because of course they will — and head to Paris afterward, which is where the BIG weddings will take place. Yes, weddings, as in plural. But that’s actually a formality, too. READ THE ARTICLE: Report: Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Marrying This Weekend!

Who Could Be Two Of Lindsay Lohan’s Baby Daddies?

*EXCLUSIVE* Lindsay Lohan can't stop partying in Brazil

From our friends at Your Tango!

The Lindsay Lohan list was only the tip of the iceberg in showing just what a broken, hot mess the onetime Mean Girls star really is. The news of her miscarriage during the filming of her OWN series, Lindsay, was sadly met with the same combination of sympathy, skepticism and scorn that the rest of her troubles are — both by the general public and by those close to her.

An insider told Radar Online that he or she believes Lohan is actually making up the entire miscarriage story, about which she was pretty vague and almost nonchalant in comparison with her other dramas. READ THE ARTICLE: “Who Could Have Been Lindsay Lohan’s Baby Daddy?”

From blankets to books, check out these baby must-haves for moms on a budget.

·       Swaddle Blankets – Cuddle your little one in the chicest patterns and prints without taking a hit to your wallet. Low prices on these soft and comfortable muslin blankets allow soon-to-be-moms to pick up a few extra, as well. Now that’s a bargain, baby!

·       Bibs – Bibs are like shoes – it seems you can never have too many! Keep your baby clean and cute with these days of the week bibs. New moms inevitably lose track of time, making these bibs both fun and functional (but we promise we won’t tell if you use Sunday’s bib on Wednesday).

10 Favorite Kids’ Breakfast Cereals

From our friends at Mamiverse!

Cereals have always been a part of humankind’s diet. Porridge was a traditional food in much of Northern Europe and Russia back to antiquity, and remains a popular breakfast items in many parts of the world. Native Americans ate corn, or maize, as a food staple, processing it into grits. By the mid 1800s, companies began grinding oats and selling them as nutritious breakfast cereals.

Overcoming the idea of “horse food” as a breakfast staple was made a lot easier with the production of ready to eat cereals, available right out of the box with no cooking time. The most famous of these is Cheerios, introduced May 1, 1941. Following WWII and the massive baby boom that swelled American populations, cereal companies targeted young children with sugar-laden, cartoon-inspired cereals. Those breakfast cereals we enjoyed as kids are still popular today and we have to admit, we still love them, even though we know we shouldn’t. Here are our favorite kids’ breakfast cereals…and our guilty pleasures!

The 10 Most Beautiful Instagram Pics By January Jones

From our friends at Your Tango!

Mad Men is coming to a close, but thankfully, you won’t have to say goodbye to Betty Draper (or Betty Francis, as it were) forever. January Jones joined Instagram pretty recently, and her posts are almost as colorful and entertaining as her dresses on the show — and her dating history.

Jones keeps her private life pretty private, but the actress and former model has been linked to some of the biggest names in Hollywood. She was rumored to be dating Adrien Brody before she was famous, and when Ashton Kutcher was still on That ’70s Show from 1998 to 2001, he famously dated January Jones — and she says he told her she should quit acting! (Hey, he’s never really been known for his keen intellect, right?) READ THE ARTICLE: ‘Mad Men’ Star January Jones’ 10 Most Beautiful Instagram Pics!

Which Celeb Mom’s Parenting Style Is Closest To Your Own?

From our friends at Popsugar Moms!

Once our favorite celebrities become parents, we’re exposed to an entirely different side of their personas. Alicia Silverstone, who was at one time best known for her Clueless role as spoiled valley girl Cher Horowitz, is now an advocate for attachment parenting, orgasmic natural childbirth, and prechewing her son’s food for him. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there’s Tina Fey, whose bestseller, Bossypants, includes a (hilarious) prayer to her daughters: “Lead her away from Acting, but not all the way to Finance. Something where she can make her own hours but still feel intellectually fulfilled and get outside sometimes . . . and not have to wear high heels.” Which celeb mom’s parenting style is closest to your own?

The Bachelor’s Molly Mesnick Shares Details Of Riley’s First Birthday Party

From our friends at Popsugar Moms!

Believe it or not, it’s been just over a year since The Bachelor couple Molly and Jason Mesnick shared their baby shower with us. Since that time, they added Riley to their family (making Jason’s son Ty, 8, a big brother) and experienced all of the firsts that new parents see throughout the year.

Just as she did with her shower, Molly didn’t want to plan a “traditional” first birthday party for her daughter. “Since most of the guests were adults, I didn’t want the party to be too childish,” Molly said. “Rather, I catered to the adults with small accents that played into a first birthday party!” That meant catering to more grown-up needs like having a working bar stocked with adult drinks and bar-like seating courtesy of online home furnishings retailer and a photo booth filled with props her family and friends would use. For sweets, they turned to one of our favorite West Coast bakers, Jenny Keller from Jenny Cookies, and for lunch, they kept the table full of comfort foods.

Keep reading for all of the stylish details from Riley’s birthday party at Popsugar Moms.

Kourtney Kardashian Covers Mini Magazine’s Spring Issue

The spring issue of Mini Magazine is now out!  The modern magazine for parents features an interview with Kourtney Kardashian – who talks about her new Kardashian Kids line and shares her thoughts on raising Penelope, 1, and Mason, 4.

Also included are Mini’s Mom Must-Haves, Joy Cho’s new collection for Target, an interview with Candace Cameron Bure, and a section by Celebrity Baby Scoop on Gwen Stefani’s best maternity looks. To celebrate the spring launch – Mini is throwing the Ultimate Spring Giveaway.

In Kourtney’s interview she says Mason is already showing off his sense of style. She states, “Everyday is different but he loves to dress himself and pick his outfit every day.”

The 34-year-old also says her family is priority.

“Nothing comes before my children. I find that putting everything else in order of importance also helps to get everything done! Having an amazing, Daddy, doesn’t hurt either.”

Talking about the inspiration behind Kardashian Kids – Kourtney shares, “I have always had a passion for children’s clothing. My mom and I opened up a children’s boutique called Smooch which we had for five years and I did all of the buying. My grandmother also has a children’s boutique called Shannon & Co. which she has had for 30 years and my sisters and I grew up working in. It is in our blood. Once I had my own children, I found a new appreciation, understanding and education about children’s clothes!”

A View On Dads & Their Diaper Disasters

From our friends at Mamiverse!

We men like to maintain a facade of unflappability. Nothing… not the daily commute, a backed-up toilet, or the new puppy eating the brand new sofa, can upset our personal apple cart. Well, guys, it’s time to come clean (literally) because, deep down inside, all men know that there is one thing that can shatter our resolve like nothing else…diaper disasters!

That’s right! I’m a guy and I just admitted it. Dirty diapers gross me out! But, as every dad quickly finds out, sometimes it falls to the guy to change the diaper. Since babies are not known for “holding it” until it’s convenient for you, the full diaper often occurs in some awkward places. A while back, we polled our male readers to learn about their diaper disasters. A few brave male souls suspended their personal macho just long enough to share their stories with us. To make everything fair, I’ll also share one of my own first:

5 Celebs Who Split Up Before Marriage

*EXCLUSIVE* Pink and Carey Hart take Willow for a cruise down Venice Beach

From our friends at Your Tango!

The American public seems to have a bit of a love/hate relationship with celebrities; sometimes we adore them (Sandra Bullock), sometimes we find them self-righteous and beyond arrogant (Donald Trump) and sometimes we don’t, for the life of us, understand at all what they are famous for (Paris Hilton and EVERY single Kardashian). In other words, we judge them; an act that, at its root, is innately unfair. We don’t even, after all, actually know them.

Public opinion and fame have always been a package deal, one can argue that the famous know that going in. They are also more than fairly compensated for the judgments they endure; the local bartender who goes off on an anti-Semitic rant will never be put under the scrutiny of Mel Gibson, but the local bartender doesn’t have a career that has netted him 600 million dollars either. Spring Cleaning Time For Your Baby

From our friends at Mamiverse!

Spring cleaning is a common practice for many families. We often take extra time to dust, clean closets, and shampoo upholstery in the spring but, when we have a baby, there are some special spring cleaning procedures that should be added to our to do lists!

Believe it or not, there are thousands of recalls each year on baby and child toys and accessories. Everything from high chairs to car seats to teething rings are determined to be unsafe and in need of additional parts, exchange, or a good toss in the dumpster. While many products come with a postage-paid card for you to register your product and give the company your contact information so they can reach out to purchasers who need replacement products, what busy mom has the time or energy to fill these out and mail them?

They make a really cute couple who have been photographed many times together, looking at each other lovingly. From the surface, it appears that they are a good match for one another. Keeping Up With the Kardashian Kids Clothing Collection

From our friends at Popsugar Moms!

When I heard that Kim, Khloé, and Kourtney Kardashian were releasing a line of clothing for kids, I cringed (just a little). But the truth is that I’m pretty much in love with these adorable little numbers. The gold stars, polka dots, and butterfly prints that make up Kardashian Kids are perfectly suited for little girls up to 24 months — and because the collection will retail between $15 and $30, they’re pretty well suited for Mama’s budget, too. Kourtney Kardashian, mom to Penelope and Mason, explains her vision behind the baby threads: “Since becoming a mom, I’ve been so inspired to create Kardashian Kids with perfect prints, heavenly fabrics for a baby’s skin, and to bring fashion to the baby world that is affordable.” Mission completed. Well done, ladies!

The sweetly sophisticated pieces are bound to win you over too, but you won’t be able to outfit your baby fashionistas just yet; the line doesn’t actually roll into Babies “R” Us stores until March 15.

Screen Shot 2014-02-14 at 5.08.26 PM

From our friends at Fit Pregnancy!

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, but sometimes, feeling the part is easier said than done. That’s why we asked our gorgeous February/March cover star and host of The Chew, Daphne Oz, for her favorite prenatal style tips. Let’s get glowing.

Don’t Sacrifice Comfort
“I have two pairs of stretchy maternity leggings and jeans, which I will never give up, because once you experience an elastic band for a waist you will never go back. I hope to be able to pull it off after pregnancy.”

Wear Versatile Clothes
“I’m trying not to buy too much straight-up maternity wear that I can’t wear afterward. So I love Rosie Pope blouses, where you can wear them while you’re getting back into your body. You don’t want a full wardrobe of pregnancy clothes because you might encourage yourself to never leave this body behind.”

Do You Want To Build an Updo? 5 Cool Hairstyles Inspired by Frozen

From our friends at Popsugar Moms!

Children, mine included, have been singing the songs from Disney’s Frozen for weeks now, but my daughter went a step above crooning the tunes over and over again. She wanted their updos. And badly. Best Potty Training Methods

From our friends at Mamiverse!

Even though I have two kids in diapers, I’m not in a rush to potty train my eldest, Emma, who is almost 2 years old. As I’ve prepared for and completed some of the early stages of potty training, I’ve realized that mothers are completely bombarded with all the books, advice, products, and programs on the market, telling us exactly what will and won’t work to get our babies to use the toilet. Still, when it comes to potty training, my daughter and I are taking it slow, and figuring it out as we go along.

Can Homeschooling Work for You?

From our friends at Mamiverse!

When the idea of homeschooling my kids was first introduced to me, I totally balked. Images of socially backwards children with big glasses and crooked teeth flooded my mind.

So you can imagine my surprise to learn that in 2007, homeschooling was on the rise, and there were more than 1.5 million children being homeschooled in America. In fact, from 2001 to 2009, a U.S. Department of Education study found that homeschooling had grown by 77 percent! Today, homeschooling has become a mainstream educational alternative.

Has Your Child Been Embarrassed By Your Accent?

From our friends at Mamiverse!

Is your child embarrassed by your Spanish, Cuban, Mexican or Puerto Rican accent? Young people do not want to be different. Youngsters wish to belong, especially to the country and to the culture they were born into or have adopted. They are true conformists and their parents and grandparents who do not have fluency and a certain dexterity in English make them feel ashamed, uncomfortable, and embarrassed in front of their peers.

Long ago, some of my college classmates avoided taking me to their homes because they were embarrassed by their parents’ lack of mastery of the English language. I had that impression because I was often asked to wait in the car while they went indoors to get something we needed: a book, money… whatever. But keeping me outside did not keep me from hearing one of their parents come out and shout something in broken English with an Italian, Slovak, Czech or Bulgarian accent.

10 Things Your Kids Need To Do In 2014

New Year's Resolutions for kids

From our friends over at Mommyish!

Resolutions are really wasted on us parents, as we are all pretty perfect. You know who really needs to resolve to improve in 2014? The little people we gave birth to. Below is a whole list of things that our kids can resolve to do better in the New Year.

1. To stop leaving a few crumbs in the cereal box

Froot Loops- Wikipedia

What sort of monster leaves three sad Froot Loops in the bottom of the box and opens up a new box of cereal? Your kiddo. I am not sure who is supposed to consume the sad cereal dust at the bottom of the box, but your kids assume the magical pantry cleaning fairy will deal with this while they happily tear through a new box of Cookie Crisp.

2. To stop asking us questions the second we get on the phone

If you ever want to get your kid’s attention, make a long distance phone call. It doesn’t matter how old your kid is…you will never be as fascinating to them, nor will they ever need to ask you something important, or demand your attention, as much as they will the second you try to make a phone call.

Zulily: Make More Room To Play

Remember what mom used to say — a place for everything, everything in its place?  It’s time to get serious about getting your kids’ room or playroom in shape. At zulily, we’ve got some great tips and essentials to transform your kids’ cozy corners of the universe into oases of organization.

Tip 1. Seeing spots. Easily and affordably add instant pops of colorful (and interactive!) fun with these dry-erase decals.

Tip 2. Reach for a rug. Simply adding a vibrantly colored new rug with an interesting design dramatically changes the look and feel of any room.

Tip 3. Streamline with stackable storage solutions
After you and your little packrats sort through clothes that no longer fit, toys that no longer turn heads and books that no longer are opened, bring in your indispensable storage solutions and you’ll have everything that “made the cut” neatly organized in no time.

Tip 4. Ramp up the cozy and comfy factor
Add in a few new pillows, a beanbag chair or a super soft throw, and watch your little ones greet their refreshed rooms with great big grins.

Tip 5. Delight with unexpected accents. Add flair with fun yet functional essentials.
