Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor died this morning of congestive heart failure at age 79, according to the Associated Press:
“My Mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love,” her son, Michael Wilding, said in a statement.
“We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for Mom having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts.”
Wilding and Taylor’s three other children were with her. She is also survived buy 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
What can one say about Elizabeth Taylor? One might say she was an icon among icons or a legend among legends, but she deserves better than overblown phrases. She was Liz Taylor. Her beauty was everything it is spoke of as being, her fame was everything it is spoke of as being, and her talent was everything it is spoke of as being and more.
Things that were waiting for her up in heaven: crates of vodka, an audience to perform for every night, copious amounts of priceless jewellery and Richard Burton (and if not him at least one of her other 6 husbands). Personally, I was hoping to be husband number 8.
R.I.P Elizabeth Taylor
