Celebrities Appeal For Healthy School Meals Act

Funny lady Sarah Silverman is America’s newest advocate for healthy school lunches. She is urging Congress to support the Healthy School Meals Act of 2010, a bill that would help schools serve healthier meal options.

In her letter to Congressman George Miller, Sarah states, “I’m writing to you about something that has shocked and offended me. And trust me when I say it takes a lot to shock and offend me. Some of the foods we’re feeding kids in schools are repulsive—and that unhealthy food is feeding the childhood obesity epidemic.”

Many more celebrities are joining Sarah in this important campaign, including celeb parents like Nicole Richie, Sean Penn, Bethenny Frankel, Kelly Rutherford and Tobey Maguire. The following letters have been released to Celebrity Baby Scoop. Read below how some of our fav celeb parents support this campaign.

“Growing Pains” star gone missing

Former “Growing Pains” star Andrew Koenig, who played Boner on the ’80s TV show, has been reported missing.

“He went up to [Vancouver] to visit friends who last saw him on the 14th,” Danielle Koenig, his sister, told Zap2it.com, which was first to report the news. “Any information we can get on his whereabouts would be helpful.”

Stars including Sarah Silverman, Alyssa Milano and “Best Week Ever’s” Doug Benson have Tweeted about his disappearance, with television personality Dave Holmes reporting on his blog that Andrew missed his scheduled February 16 flight back to the U.S.

His parents, Walter (”Star Trek’s” original Pavel Chekov) and Judy Koenig, told TMZ that their son was “suffering from depression.”

“[He was] not doing good” at the time of his disappearance, they told the site, adding that they planned to fly to Vancouver in the coming days.

According to Walter and Judy, Andrew’s phone has been off.

They last had contact with him on February 9.

“I performed with Andrew for several years around Los Angeles,” friend and comedian Josh Feemster said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “He always had a passion for comedy and political activism. I really hope he’s OK. Not only for his sake, but for the sake of his family and friends.”

Individuals with information on the star’s location may contact Detective Raymond Payette of the Vancouver Police Department at (604) 717-2534.

Disgrace:Larry David urinates on Jesus icon, HBO calls it “playful”

curb640_slideshow_604x5001

Apparently perceiving Christianity as the harmless Forest Gump of religions allows you to defile its religious symbols and Jesus Christ himself and call it playful and funny, but certainly “not malicious”. Are we ever going to see the day when Larry David or an equally idiotic “actor” with a relative morality defile, oh, say the Koran? Most certainly not because that would be the day his head would be attached to a stick instead of his torso and his production company’s offices would be blown to smithereens.

It wouldn’t surprise us one bit if Larry David (who is a Jew and certain to be all Kosher when it comes to his own religion) was amongst the people who called Mel Gibson a hateful antisemitic lunatic for his past comments. Isn’t hypocricy and double standards sweet especially when you can get away with it scotch free?

Can we then not let him get away with it by finding humour in another show that doesn’t spit on our core beliefs?

To explain, On Curb Your Enthusiasm’s most recent installment, which aired Sunday, David urinates on a painting of Jesus Christ, causing a woman to believe the painting depicts Jesus crying.

Deal Hudson, author and publisher of InsideCatholic.com, said he doesn’t find any humor in the episode.

“I don’t think it’s funny,” Hudson told Foxnews.com. “Why is it that people are allowed to publicly show that level of disrespect for Christian symbols? If the same thing was done to a symbol of any other religions — Jewish or Muslim — there’d be a huge outcry. It’s simply not a level playing field.”

Hudson said an apology from the show’s producers and writing team should be issued.

“Somebody should [apologize],” Hudson said. “When is it going to stop? When is common sense going to dictate that people realize this willingness of artists to do to Christianity what they would never do to Judaism or Islam?”

In a statement to Foxnews.com, HBO downplayed the controversy.

“Anyone who follows Curb Your Enthusiasm knows that the show is full of parody and satire,” the statement read. “Larry David makes fun of everyone, most especially himself.  The humor is always playful and certainly never malicious.”

Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, also criticized the episode, saying David should “quit while he’s ahead,” and that the show is proof that the comedian’s best years are behind him.

“Was Larry David always this crude? Would he think it’s comedic if someone urinated on a picture of his mother?” Donohue said in a statement. “This might be fun to watch, but since HBO only likes to dump on Catholics (it was just a couple of weeks ago that Sarah Silverman insulted Catholics on ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’) and David is Jewish, we’ll never know.”

During Sunday’s episode, David, who created, wrote and produced “Seinfeld,” visits a bathroom in his assistant’s home and splatters urine on a picture of Jesus. Instead of wiping it off, David leaves the restroom. Minutes later, David’s assistant enters the bathroom and concludes that Jesus is crying. She then summons her mother to the bathroom, where both women kneel in prayer.

“When David and Jerry Seinfeld (playing himself) are asked if they ever experienced a miracle, David answers, ‘every erection is a miracle,’ Donohue’s statement continued. “That’s what passes for creativity these days.”

The episode, “The Bare Midriff,” primarily revolves around David’s assistant and her belly-revealing attire. According to the show’s Web site, a “new pill” increased David’s urine flow, leading to the “misunderstanding about a miraculously weeping Jesus.”

HBO promoted the controversial scene on the show’s site, complete with a “squirm-o-meter” that ranked the urine incident ahead of David’s confronting his assistant about her exposed midriff.
