‘The Tonight Show’ Faces Major Budget Cuts

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno had to make some very tough decisions recently. The show had to lay off about two dozen employees (sadly none of them were named ‘Jay Leno’) The Tonight Show is the top-rated late night program, but that doesn’t mean their financial situation is under control. It’s being reported that they are lucky to just break-even, which is why they had to cut their budget significantly.

The weekly budget for the show was around $2.3 million, but they plan on cutting that down to $1.7 million. Not only did the show lay off dozens of employees, but a lot of long-time employees had to agree to take pay cuts, including Leno himself. He currently makes between $25 million and $30 million, his new salary will likely be closer to $20 million. A spokesman for Jay Leno had this to say, “Jay’s foremost concern is the wonderful people who work for ‘The Tonight Show’. He did what was necessary to ensure their well-being.”

Ah, yeah…what a swell guy that Jay Leno is. Going from $25 million to $20 million must be really hard! Instead of buying 30 new cars, he’ll probably only be able to afford 15 or 20. Leno should have just agreed to take $10 million and saved all the jobs at the show. If someone offered me $10 million to not be funny on TV, I certainly wouldn’t turn it down.

But, I guess Jay is saving up for retirement, which is hopefully something he is planning on doing very soon. I hear Hawaii is really nice this time of year…just sayin’ Jay Leno Jay Leno1

Lindsay Lohan Appearing on ‘The Tonight Show’ Tonight

Yesterday Lindsay Lohan pre-taped an episode of The Tonight Show that airs this evening. Linds actually got a standing ovation from the audience when she walked out (they were all standing and yelling because a bunch of critters jumped out of her cooch and were running around under the seats) and told Jay Leno she felt “kind of numb” after she was sentenced.

Via RadarOnline:

Leno asked Lohan, “At what point did you realize, ‘Oh my God, I could lose this, this could slip away from me?’”
“I think that when, you know, being young and being in the position I was in, you don’t really take the time to appreciate what you have and it’s all kind of a whirlwind, and people make decisions for you,” Lohan said. “But I’m not a kid anymore – I’m 24, I’ve made a lot of mistakes and I recognize that. I’m in the clear now, and as long as I stay focused, I can achieve what I want to achieve.”

“In the clear” you say LiLo? You just got out on bail last Friday night and are still facing misdemeanor charges for retail theft, yet somehow you are “in the clear”? Well those are words she won’t be hearing at her next AIDS test.

The thing I still don’t really get is her getting a standing ovation. She basically must have done an Oprah. She stood up and announced “everyone in the audience is getting a blow job! I’ve got a blow job for you! And for you! And for you! Every one of you is getting a blow job!”

Video: Conan O’brien says goodbye to NBC

Conan O’Brien hosted his final show on NBC Friday night and here’s the goodbye speech as the entertainer bid farewell to his fans and the show that made him a household name. The Conan VS NBC late night fracas might have ended with this show, but I doubt if people are going to forgive NBC in a hurry. Hopefully, there’s no trace of doubt in our hearts that it won’t take too long for Conan to again invade our homes and our hearts with yet another TV show. Goodbye and hope to see you soon, Mr. O’Brien!
