Tiki Barber Speaks Out On Split

Tiki Barber wants the world to know his side of the story.

The NFL'er-turned-TV personality and his new love Traci Lynn Johnson sat down with Entertainment Tonight in hopes of putting to rest the rumors surrounding his recent split from his wife of 11 years, who was at the time pregnant with twins.

Though they are now living together, both Tiki and Traci insist that their romance started after he had separated from his wife Ginny.

“We were only friends when I was still married, I was separated, out of my house so it wasn’t until then that we took things to the next level,” Tiki says.

Tiki Barber & Estranged Wife Welcome Twin Girls

Today correspondent Tiki Barber's estranged wife Ginny delivered twin girls on Monday (May 24) in New York City, Daily News reports.

"Ginny wishes to thank everyone across the city who has offered their best wishes," her rep says. "She is excited to welcome these new additions to the Barber Family."

The twin girls (whose names were not released) join big brothers, A.J., 7, and Chason, 6. After 11 years of marriage, Tiki left Ginny - during her pregnancy - for Traci Lynn Johnson, a former NBC intern. He is seeking joint custody of all four children.

"Tiki was at the hospital for the birth, but was not in the delivery room," an insider said.

Tiki Barber & Wife Split As Twins’ Due Date Approaches

With twins on the way in just over a month, NFL superstar Tiki Barber and his wife Ginny are calling it quits on their 11-year-marriage.

The 35-year-old athlete, who has been an NBC Today Show correspondent since retiring from football in 2007, confirmed the split yesterday.

"After 11 years of marriage, Ginny and I have decided to separate," said Tiki, who has a reputation as a committed family man. "This decision was a painful one, but we are moving forward amicably and will continue to work together to raise our children with the love and dedication they have always known."

The couple, who began dating while still in university, are also parents to sons A.J., 7, and Chason, 6.

The news comes amidst speculation that Tiki has been romancing a 23-year-old former NBC intern. The New York Post reports that Traci Lynn Johnson accompanied the former New York Giants star on a trip to Senegal last year and then joined him earlier this year in Vancouver, where he was covering the 2010 Winter Olympics.
